Deployment Consultant

General Description:
As part of the Professional Services organization, a Deployment Consultant is responsible for deployment of Desire2Learn's products and tools. You will work both with the Desire2Learn SaaS team, on-premise clients, and various cross-functional team members to deploy, configure, optimize, and automate Desire2Learn's Suite of tools. In this role, you will have the opportunity to use and expand your knowledge of web technologies by utilizing leading edge technologies & practices to drive efficiencies and overcome challenging issues. The successful candidate will be a solution oriented, and detailed person with an entrepreneurial spirit who is focused on driving & delivering relevant new technologies on the web.

Responsibilities:
- Deploy, Manage, Upgrade, Automate and Optimize software installations of Desire2Learn's products and associated tools within or across Desire2Learn's Global Datacenters and customer sites around the World.
- Setup and configure Desire2Learn Learning Platform instances and organizations for new and existing clients
- Deploy new versions of Desire2Learn software (patches and upgrades) to client sites (both Hosted and on-premise)
- Work with both Desire2Learn Hosting & Customer teams to drive optimization, efficiency, and automation improving customer experience, uptime, performance, roll-out, administration, and upgrade times.
- Communicate with clients and other stakeholders during deployment projects
- Investigate and troubleshoot deployment issues to determine corrective actions
- Look for and suggest improvements to the installation process and documentation
- Work with cross divisional resources to drive enhancements/improvements into the Desire2Learn Suite of products
- Design and implement custom applications to improve efficiency or automation
- Occasional off-hours scheduled work is a component of this role
- On-call rotation may be required
Work Experience and Qualifications:
- 2+ years' experience working with relevant programming technologies (.NET, SQL, ASP, XML, HTML, C#, JAVA etc.)
- 2+ years' experience working with relational databases and management tools (SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, MySQL, Oracle etc.)
- 2¬+ years' experience working with internet server technologies (Internet Information Services 6X or higher, Apache etc.)
- Knowledge of Networking basics & Internet technologies required
- Knowledge of Windows Server 2003/2008, Active Directory, (or LDAP), and other associated Microsoft Enterprise technologies required
- Knowledge of computer hardware (Servers, Storage, devices etc.) is an asset

Education Recommendations:
- Bachelors of Computer Science, Applied Science, Engineering or equivalent
