Marketing Manager, Consumer Products

General Description:

The Marketing Manager, Consumer Products, is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of the Marketing Strategy and Plan for the Consumer market. As a key member of the marketing team, the successful candidate will be the go-to person and will have primary responsibility for driving rapid adoption of Desire2Learn Products/Services to meet sales goals and corporate objectives.

The position is responsible for a range of responsibilities including research, developing market and channel strategy and plans, budgeting, competitive intelligence, creating marketing collateral, presentation and sales support materials, marketing campaigns, and other marketing related activities.

Main Duties:

  • Key contributor to the development of the company's marketing strategy and owner of the Consumer products/services segmentation and plan
  • Deliver tactical execution on all aspects of the marketing & sales plan to achieve revenue and related targets
  • Undertake primary and secondary research to obtain and maintain deep understanding of the Consumer segment
  • Actively plan, develop and manage sales channels scan the market to define market and customer requirements and future opportunities
  • Utilize sector expertise to create company’s position on addressing the needs of the Consumer segment
  • Create marketing materials, collaterals that speak to the needs of the segment including brochures, case studies, tutorials, demos, white papers, presentations, and other
  • Interface with other members of the marketing team to develop/adapt marketing campaigns/materials including lead generation, brochures, advertising, newsletters and other direct marketing materials to meet the needs of the Consumer segment
  • Create sales support materials to ensure sales channels can effectively communicate offerings
  • Work closely with channel teams to launch and position new products in market
  • Participate at trade shows and conferences for business development and speaking engagements
  • Other marketing related assignments as required
  • Create and manage metrics to measure and report on program effectiveness
  • Develop and manage Consumer segment marketing budget

Work Experience Recommendations:

  • Must have 7 - 10 years plus experience marketing technology based Consumer products/services
  • Experience in brand development and brand management
  • Experience across the marketing mix including planning, implementing, and managing marketing initiatives encompassing Market/Competitive Assessment, Lead Generation, Channel development and management
  • Previous experience in eLearning, enterprise software and/or high tech solutions providers preferred
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure with constant changes and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Financial literacy

Education Recommendations:

  • Bachelor degree in Education, Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Graduate Degree preferred
