Location: Kitchener, Ontario
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with clients (both internal and external to Desire2Learn) to design and develop new websites.
- Designing and developing the front-end of web properties from concept to integration into the production environment.
- Optimizing sites and improving search engine optimization.
- Assist in troubleshooting code and compatibility issues across different browsers and platforms.
- Develop and maintain ASP/ASP.NET Applications.
- Collaborate directly with our graphic designers, sales, and marketing departments to work on intriguing projects and cutting-edge technologies.
Work Experience and Qualifications:
- Web development with a solid appreciation of web site/application development including optimizing of sites for performance and search engine rankings
- ASP/ASP.NET
- Fluent in CSS, HTML and JavaScript with understanding of cross-browser design issues and clean work-arounds
- Database Experience (SQL Server).
- Familiar with Web 2.0 and social media technologies such as web-based communities, wikis, blogs, etc.
- Photoshop; slicing and basic manipulations for implementation in code
- Experience with Flash
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Project management experience
- Fluent in English
Education Recommendations:
- Diploma in web design, multimedia development, or a related field is recommended
The following may be considered assets
- An awareness of Web Standards and Accessibility Standards
- Understanding the importance of User Experience & User Interface with examples of where you have implemented this understanding.
- Mobile web development
- Proficient in website statistics software and data analysis
- Fluent in French or other languages
- Dynamic HTML, AJAX, jQuery experience
- PHP development experience
- Experience in Flash/Actionscript development.
- Knowledge of eLearning and/or Learning Management Systems
